Samsung Find My Mobile Can Now Find Your Phone if Its Offline

Even if your phone can’t connect to the internet, you’ll be able to find it with Find My Mobile.

If you’ve ever experienced that terrible feeling when you can’t find your phone, you know how important it is to get it back in your possession. Most device manufacturers offer some sort of service that’ll help you track your device down. Samsung is no exception with its Find My Mobile app.

While Find My Mobile does an admirable job of tracking down a lost phone, it only worked if the device was online. Fortunately, Samsung is rectifying the situation, as a new update makes it so you can track down your phone even if it loses internet connection.

Find My Mobile Update

XDA-Developers spotted the update for Find My Mobile. The feature is called Offline finding, and as the name implies, it’s designed to make it so you can find your missing phone even if it’s not online.

The feature appears to allow other people to use your phone to scan for lost Galaxy devices that may be nearby. There’s also the ability to find Galaxy Watches and earbuds that were connected to your device.

Depending on how long your phone has been missing, there’s a chance the battery could have died, or it could have frozen.

There are all sorts of reasons a phone could go offline, and being able to see where it is could be the difference between finding it and not. When you spend upwards of $1,000 on a phone, not losing it forever is always a good thing.

How to Get the New Offline Find My Mobile Feature

You don’t have to do anything to get the new version of Find My Mobile. However, you will need to enable the feature once the update is pushed to your phone.

When you get the update, you’ll get a notification on your device letting you know that you need to enable it through settings. Once you turn it on, you can also choose whether you want to encrypt your offline location, which is a nice bit of extra security.
